WELCOME TO THE WELLNESS FARMER PODCAST

WHERE YOUR HEALTH IS MADE SIMPLE ONE EPISODE AT A TIME!!

Dec 10, 2015

Today is awesome.  I found a medical doctor that wrote a book in the year 1972 that talks about all the problems that were present in 1972, they are exactly what we are facing today in health.

He starts his book out in this manner.

"America, land of the free? It is a myth!!

Most babies born in America today do not have the freedom to breathe poison-free air.

Most babies born in America today do not have the freedom to drink poison-free water.

Most babies born in American today do not have the freedom to eat poison-free food.

Most babies born in America today do not even have the freedom to nurse the mother's breast without being poisoned with DDT.  As a result of the loss of these freedoms, most babies born in America today do not have the freedom to be healthy.  We must regain these lost freedoms and this book is an attempt to outline a way of life that will do just that."

DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a colorless, crystalline, tasteless and almost odorless organochloride known for its insecticidal properties.  It is an insecticide.

Don't miss today as I talk about Nutrition Dr. Nichols style!  As I state so often it is simpler then you think.

"We live in a polluted world today, and I don't say that natural, poison-free food will bring in the millennium with perfect health free of disease, but it will do much of the job. I don't promise to abolish disease, but it will do much of the job. I don't promise to abolish death, I do propose to postpone it for millions of persons." - Dr. Joe Nichols

My wife Ruth makes me a natural protein supplement in the form of a shake if I do a very rigorous workout, I will leave the recipe below so you can use it also. I really just try to make it as simple as possible and just try to eat a diet that is high in natural foods that are in season, natural foods are foods that don't have labels. Our diet should try to be 65% plant based and 35% meat based. If we stick to that and eat whole natural foods raised properly our body will do the rest.
To answer your second question, first you are right it is not easy. That is one of the reasons we started Pastos Verdes Farm. My wife and I want local, properly raised animal meats to feed the family and it being hard to find we decided to start a farm to make it easier for people in our community to find properly raised meats. However there is a website out there that does help quite a bit. Try it and see if you get any results it is www.eatwild.com. They have farmers from all over the world that raise their food properly.

Here is the recipe, thanks to my wife.
Protein Shake / Paleo, Vegan, 21DSD, Whole30

1 cup of water or Almond or Coconut milk
1/2 cup of ice
1/2 cup of organic canned pumpkin (or previously cooked and mushed pumpkin or sweet potato).
2 Tablespoons of Gelatin powder as Vital Protein (Collagen, gelatin powder) or Great Lakes pure protein unflavored Gelatin. (Find them at amazon.com)
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
Organic Vanilla extract and Honey (optional)

For more calories and flavor you can add:
1 banana or 1/2 cup of frozen organic strawberries or cherries.

(This has 12 to 15 g of protein, equivalent to 3 eggs aprox.)

I really enjoyed these last three episodes on nutrition. A few questions 1) I have a workout program that I was going to start and it says for best results we need to follow the nutrition plan and take the protein shake and creatine supplements. I've heard differing opinions on using creatine and protein. What's your take?
2) surprisingly I'm having a hard time finding on the Internet any farms that advertise that they are open to public coming and buying produce. Are you aware of sources I can look to?
